    Hello friends,

    Hope everyone is doing good.

I have more than 7 years of experience as a civil engineer in the metro rail transport infrastructure sector with Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Limited (DMRC) in India. I have experience in Site supervision, Precast concrete structures, Contract management and Quality control. I have acquired the VIC White Card. I have full working rights to live and work in any part of Australia.

I have recently moved to Australia as a skilled independent migrant and looking to start my engineering career in the Australian construction industry.  I have already applied for 16 jobs with customized CV and cover letter in the last 4 weeks. Out of those, I received only 1 pre interview call. A week later I learnt that I was not selected as the company found a more suitable candidate with local experience.

I'm even open for graduate roles and internships (paid/ unpaid). However, the graduate roles are for fresh graduates or for those who have recently graduated (up until 2022). Internships are reserved for 3rd year and 4th year graduate students. In such a scenario, how to conquer this barrier of local experience?

Thank you in advance for any connections, advice, or opportunities you can offer.

    Regards,

    Himanshu Singhal
