The Building Reform Community of Practice is the professional home for engineers working on all classes of buildings, and aims to encourage open discussion around the various Building reforms happening across Australia and promote the sharing of skills, knowledge and experience.

Unlike a College or Technical Society, this Community is a multidisciplinary area of people with a professional interest in building outcomes. It takes all sorts of engineers, technologists and associates to successfully complete a building by contributing their skills to achieve the common goal.

What are the objectives of this CoP?

    • To advocate for nationally consistent building regulations that support the delivery of quality work by engineers.
    • Ensure that unnecessary regulatory barriers are not placed in the way of engineering work.
    • Improve the adoption of innovative and practical technologies by fostering an open and dynamic R&D ecosystem.
    • Connect lawmakers and regulators to member technical experts who are working in industry.
    • Provide best practice training to uplift the standards of engineers working in industry.

The main engineering disciplines of civil, structural, mechanical, fire safety and electrical typically form the building engineering professionals. Building Engineering is not meant to be in place of these discipline type areas, but an Area of Practice which focus on the process and methods used to collaboratively achieve the outcome.
