For Community Consultation - Biomedical Sector-Based Functions Overview

30-05-2023 04:25 PM

The Biomedical College have prepared a draft paper documenting an overview of biomedical sector-based functions, which is now available for broader community review and input.

We acknowledge that it is limited in its scope and welcome a broader contribution to establish an accurate snapshot of where Biomedical Engineers (or similarly qualified Engineers working in biomedical application areas) are practicing and what they are responsible for as a biomedical engineering function.

This paper is intended to serve as a baseline guide to inform:
- Current career pathways, associated skills and possible role titles for students studying Biomedical Engineering,
- Policy and Advocacy priorities to be undertaken by the Biomedical College,
- CPD program development,
- Biomedical Engineering course design.

Future papers being considered by the Biomedical College will build on this work. For example, Biomedical Engineering workforce considerations, competency standard guidance and further guidance in specialist areas of practice within the Biomedical Engineering discipline.

Please provide your feedback or input via comment. If you have a more significant contribution that is not appropriate for comment, please send something to my inbox or direct it to [email protected]
