This week, Engineers Australia, in collaboration with Standards Australia and two additional Nominating Organisations, the Australian Industry Group and the AusIMM Women in Mining Network, participated in a significant event hosted by Standards Australia-Celebrating Women in Standards. Engineers Australia was represented on the panel discussion by our Acting Chief Engineer, Bernadette Foley.  We also had the privilege of hearing from Tracey Gramlick, Chair of Standards Australia.

This event is part of the upcoming International Women's Day Celebrations and underscores our commitment to promoting the importance of diversity in the development and review of standards.

Currently, there is a notable underrepresentation of women in standards development and within the technical committees of Standards Australia. Engineers Australia has over 300 committee representatives, yet only 5% of these positions are occupied by women.

In response to this disparity, Standards Australia is hosting a Women in Standards Bootcamp Tickets, Tue, Mar 25, 2025 at 10:00 AM | Eventbrite , which will provide participants with a comprehensive overview of the standards landscape.

If you have any enquiries regarding participating in standards development, you can email us at [email protected] and also view some of our current vacancies available on Technical Committees, on our web page - Standards Australia engagement.   Join our growing community on EAxchange Standards Discussion Forum for updates.
