Abstract: As teachers, we spend a lot of time developing course content and working out effective strategies for delivering this content to our students. However, with many students one gets the sense that no matter how much the effort, nothing seems to get through. In these cases, it can often be that various kinds of self-limiting beliefs get in the way of learning. For example, a belief that one is simply not good enough can prevent a student from asking any question in a classroom. This stalls their progress as the course continues, thereby also adding a self-fulfilling aspect to the limiting belief. In this talk, Dr. Uday Khankhoje will explore some examples of these beliefs and discuss a few strategies that might be of use in addressing these challenges.
