Discussing gender equality – how can we create cultural change?

Attendees of this event will explore topics related to gender equality in the workplace with structured discussion points.

The three topics are:

  • Gender stereotyping and how it is reinforced
  • Quotas vs. Female Targets
  • How company systems and policies can best support people of minority gender. 

After a short intro on each topic, the attendees will be broken up into smaller groups to hear each other’s opinions on each topic. After the group discussions, there will be further opportunities to discuss these topics in detail and network with fellow attendees.

The registration fee includes a selection of canapes and one drink per person.

The event is based on a report written by Margaret Gayen and Carina Nixon, titled ‘Creating Cultural Change to Support Gender Equality in Engineering’. This report focuses on real experiences by engineers in the oil, gas and pipeline industry, exploring issues for both men and women, with key recommendations for individuals, companies and the industry at large.
