While there are inevitable setbacks like any human endeavor, the transition is moving remarkably quickly. Last year global wind and solar output rose by 13% in the EU, 17.6% globally, 18% in the US and 21% in China.

In Australia there are many stories about three or four renewable projects being delayed with little mention of the 88 that are ongoing according to the Clean Energy Council.

We do hear about a decline in coal generation, but little is reported of the rapid decline in gas consumption which when one considers methane leaks emissions can be as bad or worse than coal.

This year EVs may exceed 20% of light vehicle sales and with the rapid build up of production capacity around the world could be close to 30% next year
